Idea Box

A lovely lady named Bianca threw this idea to us and we decided we needed an “idea” box for people to put in and take from. No idea is too small or too large. There’s no wrong idea or bad idea or crazy idea. There are ideas where you’re like “Wow, why didn’t I think of that?” or “Wow, why didn’t I remember that?”

The best ideas are those that are spoken first and judged some other day.

To the brainstorm box!

    Bianca’s idea is the first:

    Your work is amazing….
…Your are an inspiration to young people ……..

    I have a comment:

    From a busy mother’s perspective:

Food is so important for all children …..going to schools where there are
not coffee shops, and no cooked food available for sale is
detrimental….other countries allow the sale of ready to eat food in the
    schools, elementary, middle schools etc..

Why not ad on your website a suggestion for people who would be interested
in participating in COMMUNAL KITCHENS? People interested in this concept
will be interested in FOOD GARDENS..

….if you are aware that Thornton Community Centre and others have created
    one community Kitchen….
…in our modern times we need to help one another.. Mothers like me who are
so busy, WE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO COOK, we buy prepared expesive food, or fast
food, however if we could take turns in preparing nutritious, low cost
meals, we not only be helping our community, but soon this concept would
spread around the same way starbucks and second cup did…. we will give
opportunities for more Community Spirit….FOOD bring people together,
GARDENS and FOOD go hand and hand….

All we need is to start the trend…..COMMUNAL KITCHENS could benefit
specially single parents and busy families FOOD GARDENS are necessary for
the reasons that you talk about on your site….

Please add one section on your web about these ideas, you will get feed
back….so then, ideas could be turn into action…..

I’ve been searching for a resource compiling the look of each vegetable plant, along with their eventual size, etc., with the perspective of creating beautifully designed vegetable gardens. Does this exist, or can this group consider creating one with the specimens grown here?

A response from Rebekka for you Leslie, one of the board members:

      Organic A-Z,
The readers digest vegetable growing book
Rodales has a bunch of titles
      Many blogs out there too.

We won’t be developing a resource quite so soon. Of course if you happen to know of a way to speed the development up we’d be happy to help in some way.

There are so many ideas that i think of, but the finance is always a problem. I would like schools to teach children from an early age hoe they can plant seeds to grow their own garden, take them from a very young age and let them do it themselves, with teachers to supervise, then take them to the next level in global warming in how they can help preventing it.They can take the food scraps from their own garden and make their own compost, get them in a cycle with it. For more information on composting and composters visit http://www.thegardengourmetcomposter.com , i would like if someone can help me with suggestions in how to start such a thing in schools
