Cathy, an acquaintance of mine who runs her own worm composting and education business in the GTA, Cathy’s Composters has just come out with a new documentary called “Squirm”.
According to its YouTube summary:
SQUIRM is the story of Cathy Nesbitt, Canada’s foremost authority on vermicomposting.
Tracing the history of the agricultural practice back to Cleopatra, this unique documentary examines the role played by the red wiggler worm throughout history to the modern-day campaign of Cathy’s Crawly Composters.
Yeah I think the musical score for the video fits in splendidly!
In addition the 3rd Annual Green Reel Environmental Film Festival is going on and Cathy invited us! (see below) The links to the interview with Mary Ito and the quick summary of its expose at the 3rd annual green reel film festival are at the very bottom of this post.
Hi Sunny,
Thank you for getting in contact regarding the FoodCycles group. Congratulations on the funding received!
Wanted to let you know that we have just completed a documentary called Squirm, The Story of Cathy’s Crawly Composters. Since 2002, we have raised awareness about the benefit of using worms to manage organic matter on-site. Worm composting is a great solution for anyone not being served by a green bin program. The premiere is taking place at the 3rd Annual Green Reel Environmental Film Festival at The City Playhouse in Vaughan – January 16 at 11:30 am and on January 17 at 3:00 pm.
I would like to invite you to attend the 3rd annual Green Reel Environmental Film Festival and the world premiere of Squirm, The Story of Cathy’s Crawly Composters. It is a film about how the worms are going to play an ever increasing role in waste management and soil production.

Learn to love a worm. They are angels of the earth.
Living in Toronto with Mary Ito aired this wonderful piece on worm composting and the Coffee Shed Project at Surrey Place.
