FoodCycles was one of the top 10 finalists out of 127 submissions for Toronto’s first Green Innovation Awards. Though FoodCycles didn’t win the award the point of getting the idea of growing tubes out there was just loads of exciting fun.

How to Sleep “Over” a Garden

Most people might have slept “in” a garden yet how many do you know have slept “over” one? Jane Hutton (FoodCycles latest member) and her partner Adrian designed an award winning sleep-above-the-garden net as part of the 10th Edition of the International Garden Festival at Les Jardins de Métis in Grand-Métis, Quebec. The festival runs from June 27th to October 4th, 2009 and Jane says the Gaspe is an absolutely amazing place to visit.

Building Worm Bins Brews Good Soil [Work Event #1]

FoodCycles will be constructing its first modular set of worm bins, sprout-salad-herb growing tables and runoff collection systems on Mon, Jul 27, Wed Jul 29 and Sat, Aug 1, 2009 at the FoodCycles greenhouse farm (70 Canuck Ave, map and directions http://bit.ly/1GYyWQ). Vertical Farm Highrise Wins Competition

Romses Architects recently won a competition held by the City of Vancouver to ‘to address climate change plans and to guide greener and denser development, reducing carbon emissions for the future. They did this with a vertical farm skyscraper design.
